How to combine multiple discount rules automatically in Shopify

*Hi,

Currently, on shopify we have the ‘discount codes’ section - which only allows us to put in X1 rule. For example: - 50% off orders over $200. I cannot create items to apply this to.

What I am wanting to do specifically, is create discount codes with multiple terms. That isn’t automatic. This is because we want to reward our data base of customers who open our EDM’s, to get this the code, and then enter it to be able to redeem the offer. This will differentiate them from the general public.

Some examples id like to do:

  • Buy 3 shirts
  • from our sale collection
  • for $100 total

OR

  • Womens Coat Offer
  • 50% off orders over $200

OR

  • two suits
  • for $1000

Does this make sense? Please let me know if this is achievable.

Kind Regards

Hi Rebecca, here's what is possible to do to make it work almost like you want it to work. First, it's important to understand that you have to prioritize rules from top to bottom, in the list of rules you create in the Automatic Discount app. Shopify won't let you apply 3 rules at the same time, but our app let's you apply the most important. That being said, here's how I would do it:
[the first field is to insert your coupon code, just to let you know]

  1. [discount code applied to the Sale collection --> it's a setting inside the Discounts section to apply to a collection only] if [amount spent >=] is [100]
  2. [discount code for Sale collection] if [# same item or # items (same t-shirt or all t-shirts)] is >= [3]

This would prioritize the first rule of orders in the collection Sale only over $100. But i guess 3 t-shirts cost around or more than $100 anyway.

For your example #2 it's possible to:
1. Create a discount code for the womens coats collection
2. In our app you put this discount code in the first field of the rule and you select:
[amount spent >=] [200]

For your example #3 it's possible to:
1. Create a discount code for the suits collection
2. In our app you put this discount code in the first field of the rule and you select:
[amount spent >=] [1000] 3. You could also have a different discount if the customer buys 2 suits that cost under $1000. Just create a different coupon code for the Suits collection and put the rule [same # item or total # items >=] [2]

I hope this helps!
